Witches, Hysteria, and Hauntings

Did you know that Salem is one of the most haunted places in the country? Salem’s dark history surrounding the Salem Witch Trials has made it one of the most active paranormal hotspots in the United States.

Today, a seafood restaurant occupies the spot where the first woman in Salem was accused of bein a witch. A man named John Louder testified that he fought off an attack by a hideous, deformed monster who retook the form of Bridget Bishop and disappeared into her orchard. She was eventually executed in June of 1692. Since then, hundreds of accounts of eerie and unexplained apparitions have been recorded in this town; even the first president of the United States, George Washington, experienced a haunting during his visit to Salem in 1789 and fled the town immediately!

“You just can’t get this kind of experience by reading about it. It has to be experienced in the flesh.”

What is the Salem Ghosts: Witches, Warlocks, and Hauntings Tour About?

The Salem Witch Trials ended in 1693, but the memories of those frightening, hysterical times have never left this town. Our Salem Ghost Tour explores the stories of those ghosts who still linger here- if you feel a chill on your tour, know that it could be more than just the coastal breeze! Walk down the narrow cobblestone streets with us as the stories unfold from Salem’s huanted past and present at sites like the Salem Inn, Ropes Mansion (featured in the Disney film Hocus Pocus), and Salem Old Town Hall.

What You Will See On This Tour

Our walking tour takes you through 1 mile of Salem real estate, where you will visit different sites connected to Salem’s haunted past, amongst them:

  • Turner’s Seafood: Lying beneath the restaurant is the orchard of Bridget Bishop, who was the first woman to be executed during the witch trials.
  • Old Burying Point Cemetery: Visit the final unhappy of Jonathan Corwin, prosecutor and judge for the 20 women put to death
  • Ropes Mansion: A historic 18th century home featured in the Disney film Hocus Pocus
  • And many more…

We will stop at each site and learn the thrilling history behind the real ghost stories of Salem. This city is full of so much history above and below the surface, and so much more than only witchcraft.

The Salem Ghost Tour takes you to all of these sites and reveals their true stories so that you can feel connected to the history that took place there. We hope the whole family will be able to bear the harrowing tales while being in the presence of Salem’s buried citizens. Test your bravery, and join us!

“If the living are haunted by the dead, then the dead are haunted by their own mistakes.”
